Feedback: We are grateful for all the support and encouragement which we received for our project, from local companies, individuals and Rotarians. We found it particularly fulfilling to see the way that our passengers enjoyed their day out. Seeing our passengers, who would not normally be able to gain access to a narrowboat, thoroughly enjoying themselves and also seeing the respite it can give to their carers, has brought home to us the true benefits of a boat such as Millie. If you would like to support the work of the Llangollen Canal Boat Trust (Canal Boats for the Disabled) please contact us at: SWEEPSTAKE Thank you - to Malcolm and Sara Jones for helping Millie from

Dear all, Thank you..... 'skippers and crew'.... for a really great day on Sunday
15th May. I have sent the photographs my Dad took of the trip on a CD
to David Bentley, so I hope these are a true reflection of the day we
spent with you all - especially the photograph of my 'cruise snooze'! We have been following Millie's journey daily and hope she arrived
home safely on the 19th. We thoroughly enjoyed our day with you form
Bourne End to Runneymede. Robert loved every minute and we would like
to say a big thank you to Mike and his crew for such a fantastic experience.
We hope to see you again in the summer as Robert is keen to travel over
the Froncysylte aqueduct. Thanks again. On behalf of Mavis and myself (Jill) may we thank Dave, Stan, Malcolm
and Peter of Wrexham Rotary for a fantastic day out on Millie on Wednesday,
May 11th. I don't think I have enjoyed myself so much for years. It
was a shame to have to come back to the realities of real life and suburbia.
The weather was good to us too as it was the first good day for a while
and we were able to sit near the bow for most of the day although we
got a little sunburnt!. Also to Sid from Kenilworth Rotary, I assume
though it could have been Coventry or Leamington. He took us to the
Millie at Hartshill and picked us up at Kettlebrook and then took us
home via the country route which again was great. Infact, this morning
I received photo's of us all on the boat that he had taken. I shall
remember that day for a very long while. Thanks again. Letter received from: There are a great many projects being organised by Rotary Clubs throughout Great Britain and Ireland to celebrate the Centennial of our organisation. The narrow boat cruise from Llangollen to Limehouse, being planned by the Rotary Club of Wrexham is one of the most imaginative of these projects as it will give many people the opportunity to experience this mode of transport together with the opportunity of seeing some of the country's finest scenery. It has taken vision on the part of the Rotary Club of Wrexham to ensure
that this project is the success I am certain it will be. Vision such
as that is precisely the sort of quality that Paul Harris and his colleagues
had, 100 years ago, when they started the very first Rotary Club. Little
could they have imagined as they sat in that small room in Chicago USA
that Rotary would blossom into the worldwide movement it has and little
could they have imagined the effect Rotary would have on so many lives. Comment from Peter Webb, Rotary Club of Reading: I am very impressed with this idea and I am sure it will raise a lot of money and more importantly give these people a great day out. . . . . . . . I think that the Centenary celebration has been a good catalyst for ideas and all clubs need to try to keep up the initiatives in years to come. . . . . . . Rotary's Profile is getting better all the time and your project can only help this. (The Rotary Club of Reading is involved in a massive project to provide a hostel for the homeless - we in Wrexham send them our best wishes for a successful outcome) Support, bookings or pledges of support received from: Rtn Colin James, District Governor 1180 Rotary Clubs of: Two clubs offered their valued assistance at flights of locks. Acknowledgements: A special thank you is due to The Llangollen Canal Boat Trust for allowing us to use "Millie" we need to ensure that their generosity is justly rewarded.
